The characteristics of our shoe stock are:
- Technical excellence
- Depth of sizes and widths
- Breadth of choice
- Current models
- Competitive prices

In terms of technical excellence, every shoe we carry has been an Editor’s Choice in either Runner’s World or one of the shoe rating services.
With respect to sizes, we carry from 5 to 13 in Women’s, and from 7 to 16 in Men’s. For widths, we offer AA, B, and D in Women’s, and B, D, EE, and EEEE in Men’s.
Regarding breadth of choice, any size or width is available from at least two manufacturers, in several models in a manufacturer’s line, and in all categories of shoe including cushioning, stability, and motion control. For the performance-minded athlete, we stock spikes for cross-country and track, flats for track, flats for road racing, and light-weight trainers.
soundRUNNER concentrates on current models, knowing that a performance shoe has a limited life. A shoe not only wears through use, it diminishes with age in terms of its ability to compress and rebound, the fundamental determinant of cushioning. The rubber from which the mid-sole of a running shoe is made loses perhaps 20% of its useful life per year, regardless of use. For this reason, soundRUNNER discounts any model for which an update is available from a manufacturer.
A final word about price. soundRUNNER sells shoes at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, except under the circumstances described above. If you believe you can buy the same shoe at less expense from another source, caveat emptor. Satisfy yourself that the shoe is the current model with the same features as the shoe sold by a technical running store. soundRUNNER will always match a lower price for the same shoe. soundRUNNER absolutely stands behind the quality of every shoe it sells.
